What is bring down the net?
Bring Down the Net is a vibrant and collaborative ultimate tournament, proudly hosted by the Grade 9 students of Island Pacific School amidst the stunning backdrop of Bowen Island. This unique event spotlights Ultimate as our primary sport, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and teamwork.
Participants will engage in tournament ultimate, presenting an exceptional chance to enhance team dynamics while relishing the beauty of the great outdoors. The essence of Bring Down the Net lies in its commitment to fortifying connections among students across British Columbia, creating a platform for them to forge new friendships.
Ferry Travel: We recommend taking the 9:20 AM ferry over to Bowen Island. If the school can provide a note on letterhead stating that the students are traveling for sport, players should be able to travel at no cost on the ferry. No ferry reservations are required, either, and your team can walk on for both trips.
Transportation to the Field: The field is about a 10-minute walk from the ferry terminal along a safe pathway. There is also a public bus available, and we can provide transportation with our school bus if needed.
Return Ferry: We currently recommend the 6:00 PM ferry back to the mainland. However, depending on how many teams sign up, we may shift to the 4:40 PM ferry instead.
Game Format:
The tournament is in partnership with the Vancouver Ultimate League, who are helping support and organize the event.
We’re aiming for 10 teams to participate.
The format will be a 4-game round robin, split into two brackets, followed by seeding teams 1 through 10 for final matchups.
Games will be 40 minutes long and played 5v5 with gender matching (3:2 male/female).
Cost: $200 per team, with a percentage of the proceeds going to Buddy Check for Jesse.
